I have been a freelance author for 25 years, mainly as a film, literary and music critic. Since 1989 I’ve written for the Boston Phoenix, Video Eyeball and Kapital Ink magazine. In 2013, I published my first book, “Documentary 101: A Viewer’s Guide to Non-Fiction Film”, a reference work that reviews nearly 350 feature-length documentary films. A graduate of New England School of Photography, I have a background in the visual arts and have worked as a freelance photographer/videographer and location scout. My new book “Rock Docs: A Fifty-Year Cinematic Journey” was published in November of 2016.

  1. I came across your blog when I was looking for information on the Medicine Ball Caravan. I had seen the footage of B B King performing in northern New Mexico in 1970. Thanks for the background.

I recently finished a book on the counterculture in northern New Mexico (University of Nebraska Press). It should appear in print in 2016. The book includes a photo essay (Irwin Klein) and several supporting essays on the NM scene.
